7-Hydroxy 17B-Dihydro Dehydroepiandrosterone is an active ingredient in body building supplements. It is designed to suppress the appetite, burn fat and increase muscle mass. It is found in some of the more popular body building supplements that work to decrease the production of estrogen and increase testosterone. This product is popular with younger adults and teenagers who look to increase their muscle very quickly. However, studies show this type of supplement is better suited to older adults who are fully developed since the chemical compound modifies the hormones to an extent that could be harmful in young people who have not finished developing.
7a-Hydroxy-Dehydroepiandrosterone is a compound whose effects on immune system are being studied. In experiments on human and murine lymphoid organs, circulating 3ß-hydroxysteroids, including pregnenolone (PREG), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and epiandrosterone (EPIA), are 7a-hydroxylated by a cytochrome P450 identified in the hippocampus as P4507B1. Mouse and human lymphoid organs produced different patterns of 3ß-hydroxysteroid 7a-hydroxylation with the absence of pregnenolone and epiandrosterone hydroxylation in human and mouse, respectively. Both 7a-hydroxy-DHEA and 7a-hydroxy-EPIA triggered a significant increase of antitetanus toxoid and anti-Bordetella pertussis toxins IgGs production in cultures of activated B + T cells derived from human tonsils, whereas both 7a-hydroxy-PREG and 7a-hydroxy-DHEA increased the immune response in mouse. Paracrine action of 7a-hydroxysteroids resulted from their production in cells of the lymphoid organ; such differences might contribute to the extent of immune response. 7a-Hydroxy-Dehydroepiandrosterone is also an active constituent of green tea which is effective in weight loss.
Forskolin is derived from the Indian coleus plant, coleus forskohlii and is a labdane diterpene, with antibacterial, anti-protozoal, anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties. Terpene are hydrocarbons, for instance, Vitamin A is a terpene. Forskolin is used to raise cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels in blood, which is an important messenger for multiple biological processes. In humans, cAMP is associated with the management of sugar, lipid and glycogen metabolism, as well as the intracellular signal transduction, including the transfer of effects of glucagon and adrenaline, two essential hormones. Forskolin is deemed a vasodilator, relaxing the smooth muscle tissue within vessel walls, essentially lowering blood pressure. In body building perspective, effects of forskolin in clinical studies have shown that it significantly increases lean muscle mass, bone mass and testosterone levels.
Green Tea Extract is very popular with the health conscious community, mainly because of the broad antioxidant features, which are provided by the green tea catechins. It is a very popular nutritional supplement, much more popular than regular green tea, because several green tea extract products have no caffeine. Caffeine is actually contained in larger quantities in green tea than in coffee. Besides the already mentioned catechins, further polyphenols are included in the Asian tea favorite. Green tea furthermore contains carotenoids, ascorbic acid – more commonly known as Vitamin C, Minerals and tocopherols. While there are many proven qualities of green tea extracts, some lesser researched effects have been observed, like reduction of LDL cholesterol, increasing the levels of norepinephrine, weight loss and additional antioxidant qualities.
